Approach and verification
Evidence before assertion.
Trace the material. Test the outcome. A resource pathway is not successful merely because material leaves a treatment plant; the outcome must be safe, useful and demonstrable at its destination.
Whole-system boundary
Design begins with catchment and material identity and includes the final use, every residual, and the responsibilities that survive the treatment plant boundary.

Distinctions we do not blur
- Sludge, stabilised biosolids, digestate, biochar, ash and hydrochar are different materials.
- Biomass-derived biochar and biosolids-derived char differ in contamination and product-eligibility assumptions.
- PFAS transfer, capture or immobilisation is not verified destruction.
- Carbon retention is not an issued carbon credit.
- Total nutrient content is not crop availability or fertiliser effectiveness.
- An advertised technology is not regulatory permission or validated performance at an actual facility.
How claims are labelled
- DOCUMENTED_REPORT
- Accurately reports what a named source said. Not independent verification.
- MEASURED_SOURCE
- An attributable numerical result in a named source.
- INTERPRETATION
- Original synthesis, kept separate from the underlying data.
- HYPOTHESIS
- A research proposition awaiting testing.
- PROPOSED_DESIGN
- A proposed design or trial, not built or validated.
- EXAMPLE
- A hypothetical worked case, never actual site data.
- UNVERIFIED
- Insufficient evidence.
- CORRECTED
- A claim changed after review, with the change and reason recorded.
- RETRACTED
- A claim withdrawn, with a public record.
Every number names its basis, year, unit and source. Hypothetical calculations are marked Illustrative. Future performance claims are conditional and show their unknowns.
What we disclose, and what we do not
VRCRI undertakes and coordinates exploratory research. Some technical development and underlying methods are not publicly disclosed; enquiries concerning defined collaboration may be directed through the contact page.
Public disclosure stays at the level of problem, method and outcome framework. No patent, certification, approval or peer review is claimed.
